Hi everyone! I’m Zhong Xuan, a proud member of Yale-NUS’s Class of 2020! On campus, I’m involved in a number of things – I’m one of the training directors of Ballroom Society, I’m co-president of RC^3, an event organising student org in YNC, and I co-manage the student-run coffee bar, Brewhouse! I also work as a student associate for Admissions, giving tours and (sometimes) posting up vlogs on our youtube page!
Why I Chose Yale-NUS
What attracted me to Yale-NUS was its curriculum – it made sure that all students had a common foundation to build on, and aided us in our exploration of different subjects and interests. Before coming in, I’ve heard stories of students who had drastically changed their major choices after coming in to Yale-NUS, and that showed me the effectiveness of the exposure we get in our curriculum. Additionally, the prospect of studying in a school with such an international community also really excited me!
What I Love Most About Yale-NUS
Beyond anything that the school provides, the thing I love most about Yale-NUS is the community. The small liberal arts college concept works really well here, and with all of us living on campus, the community inevitably comes together in many amazing ways. The amount of love and support we have for one another is incredible, and I’ve seen so many people dare to try new things or step out of their comfort zones because of it.
Best Moment I’ve Had at Yale-NUS
In my first semester here, I performed in a musical theatre showcase with a bunch of other students. It was my first time doing musical theatre, and also one of my first times performing, but it didn’t feel intimidating at all. I had so much fun, even if I was stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new. It was a culmination of a whole semester’s worth of work, and to see everyone on stage having fun and giving it their all was incredibly heartening.
Random Fact about Yale-NUS
