Research in London
As research assistant to Professor Rahul Sagar, I hunted for rare journal articles and biographies in the British Library, situated in the heart of London, and read and/or scanned them for Professor Sagar’s research. It was an extremely rewarding experience to be able to go to one of the most magnificent cities in the world and help conduct research on Indian political history. It was an unimaginable concept to me as an undergraduate! However, I was generously supported by both Professor Sagar’s office, and by the CIPE program at Yale-NUS, both financially and in terms of the planning process. After a month of research in London I returned to Singapore and have continued to work on Professor Sagar’s research project ever since — it has been almost a year now! I never imagined I’d be able to have this kind of opportunity so early in my collegiate life.
